Trump's Regime of Retribution and Reward

Donald Trump's voracious appetite for revenge has swiftly morphed into a methodical apparatus. Over the past year, the president's fury and impulses have adopted the guise of official policies similar to analogous to historical dictatorial systems. Government personnel who resist his demands are summarily fired and succeeded by supporters. Critical officials who confront him encounter prosecution, judicial process and sanctions. Critics have been designated under presidential memoranda as “anti-American”, “anti-Christian” and “anti-capitalist”, and menaced with criminal charges as “security threats”.

The Justice System Transformed

Each case involving targeting of political opponents and immunity for loyalists exhibits its own distinct qualities. But, notwithstanding their specific character, they exemplify manifestations of what has developed as a calculated method. Those events are far from coincidental. The administration's purge of federal prosecutors and Federal Bureau of Investigation personnel, coupled with his appointment of devotees in high-level posts, began rapidly, quickly developed a regularity, and has now been molded into a system. Federal prosecutors and the Federal Bureau have been remade into partisan agencies under his explicit direction to execute his directives. Injustice has been turned into routine. This is the apparatus of revenge.

Administration is preoccupied with targeting the President's supposed enemies than they are with protecting our country's safety.

Internal the Apparatus

The foundation of this mechanism has been uncovered in the court filing of multiple former high-ranking FBI agents lodged in September in the judicial system in DC against agency head Kash Patel and top lawyer another official for wrongful dismissal in “a initiative of payback against the officials for what the accused deemed to be a inability to show sufficient allegiance”. The document states that one official, the former temporary head, recounts a discussion in which he “publicly confessed the unlawfulness of his actions”.

The official had sought to protect law enforcement officers from being dismissed, the filing states. Patel told him that “they” – perceived by him to be the executive branch and justice department – had instructed him to remove all those who they determined as having been involved in a law enforcement case against him. The document goes on: “The director clarified that he had to terminate the personnel his leaders told him to remove, because his capacity to hold his own role depended on the dismissal of the agents who handled cases involving the leader. Patel noted that there was no way he or the official could do to prevent these or any other firings, because ‘the agency attempted to incarcerate the leader in prison and he remembers.’” After Driscoll informed him he was disregarding the agency's own regulations, Patel supposedly said “he recognized that and he was aware the nature of the immediate dismissals were almost certainly improper”.

Extensive Impact

After the director's reported acknowledgment to Driscoll, the Department of Justice and the FBI have been dismantled and reorganized for Trump's retribution system. Multiple of the bureau's high-ranking agents were terminated or pushed out in the early weeks of the government. Approximately numerous lawyers at the justice department have taken a “early exit scheme”. At least seven federal prosecutors, among them those in the Manhattan division, resigned in dissent over what they regarded as partisan influence in abandoning the criminal prosecution against the local official, the mayor, in as a trade for his collaboration with the administration's federal agency roundups of foreign nationals. The anti-corruption unit of the justice department, which manages misconduct investigations, has been cut down to minimal staff. The rights protection unit has been decimated: the majority of its employees has left. A third of senior leaders at DoJ have resigned. The section enforcing environmental law has seen departures of a majority its leadership.

Favors and Sanctions

Concerning the mayor's situation, the interim prosecutor for the NY office, the official, stepped down in dissent against what she described as the “exchange”. The border official, his “immigration leader,” was present as the implementer with Adams on a media outlet to declare: “Unless he complies, I will return in the city.”. And, a former official, previously the justice department figure and a ex-lawyer, who arranged the agreement, was given an court role, a possible pathway to the supreme court.

His immunity for crimes perpetrated while in power, provided by the extraordinary decision of the Republican majority on the judicial body, thus thwarting his legal action over the political violence and safeguarding his electoral prospects for the national vote, is the basis on which he relies to shield his loyalists. With such immunity, he has been freed to authorize misconduct. The consequence of the judicial ruling infuses his government and the Republican Party down to its bones. Trump v United States has spread. In the words of Richard Nixon's administration lawyer he said about the Watergate
